A Vectran fiber application has recently gained attention in the media amidst the recovery efforts of Hurricane Sandy. The Resilient Tunnel Plug uses two Vectran layers that create a virtually impenetrable barrier around the inflatable plug. This plug is designed to protect tunnels, such as the New York subway tunnels, from flooding in an emergency.
